Root, Brook Partnership Puts England Ahead on Rain-Hit Day One of Fifth Ashes Test

England reached 211-3 against Australia on day one of the fifth Ashes Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground before bad light and rain halted play. Joe Root and Harry Brook formed an unbroken 154-run partnership to rescue England after they were put in to bat by captain Ben Stokes. Play was suspended just before tea and stumps were called early due to weather conditions.
