
Assam Don Bosco University is set to launch LACHIT-1, the Northeast's first satellite, aboard ISRO's PSLV-C62. Named after Ahom general Lachit Borphukan, the satellite aims to symbolize regional pride and facilitate global amateur radio communication and experimentation. The mission, involving over 50 students and faculty from across the Northeast, also includes workshops on using amateur satellites for disaster communication. Developed under Dhruva Space's ASTRA program, LACHIT-1 represents a significant step for the region in space technology.
