India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has achieved a significant milestone with a successful long-duration ground test of its actively cooled scramjet combustor. The Defence Research Development Laboratory (DRDL) in Hyderabad ran the full-scale engine for over 12 minutes, a crucial step for developing hypersonic cruise missiles capable of speeds exceeding Mach 5. This advancement builds on previous tests and positions India among global leaders in advanced aerospace technology, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh calling it a solid foundation for future development.
