India's Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme is showing early success in boosting its semiconductor industry. The program has sanctioned 24 chip design projects targeting strategic sectors like defense, communication, and IoT. These projects have achieved 16 tape-outs, 6 ASIC chips, 10 patents, and leveraged over three times private investment. The scheme, part of the broader Semicon India Programme, aims to foster a self-reliant chip design ecosystem by providing financial incentives and access to advanced design tools for startups and MSMEs.
