India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has achieved a significant milestone with a successful long-duration ground test of its actively cooled scramjet combustor. Conducted by the Defence Research Development Laboratory (DRDL) in Hyderabad, the test achieved over 12 minutes of run time, a crucial step for developing hypersonic cruise missiles capable of speeds exceeding Mach 5. This advancement builds on previous tests and positions India among nations with advanced aerospace propulsion capabilities. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh lauded the achievement as a solid foundation for the nation's hypersonic missile program.
