Researchers from Tezpur University have identified distinct chemical signatures in blood that could aid in the early detection of gallbladder cancer (GBC), a highly aggressive malignancy with high mortality rates, particularly in Northeast India. The study, published in the Journal of Proteome Research, found specific 'metabolic signatures' that can differentiate GBC cases with and without gallstones. This breakthrough offers hope for developing simple blood tests to identify the cancer earlier, as many patients are currently diagnosed at advanced stages.
