Researchers at Tezpur University have identified distinct chemical signatures in blood that could aid in the early detection of gallbladder cancer, a highly aggressive malignancy prevalent in Northeast India. The study, published in the Journal of Proteome Research, found that specific blood metabolites can differentiate between cancer cases with and without gallstones. This discovery offers hope for developing simple blood-based tests to identify the disease at earlier stages, addressing a critical need given the cancer's silent progression and rising incidence in the region.
