
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has prioritized customs reforms for the upcoming budget, aiming to simplify tariff structures, ease procedures, and enhance infrastructure to boost the ease of doing business. These reforms are crucial for India's economic potential and its increasing engagement with Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). India has recently signed FTAs with countries like the UAE and Australia, with more in progress, creating opportunities for Indian manufacturers to increase exports. Customs duties are viewed as legitimate trade policy instruments under WTO law.
