Air India will begin operating its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on the Mumbai-Frankfurt route from February 1 with certain limitations. The aircraft, the first custom-made Dreamliner since Tata Group's takeover, has 296 seats across business, premium economy, and economy classes. However, sliding privacy doors in business class will remain fixed open pending FAA approval, and 18 economy seats are blocked due to regulatory interpretation issues. The airline is working with the FAA and manufacturer to resolve these restrictions.
