How Custom News Feeds Work
News feeds let you filter the daily flood of information into focused streams that match your interests. Choose from 47 curated feeds created by our team — covering everything from UPSC current affairs to startup news — or build your own custom feed with granular filters for categories, topics, entities, political leaning, and accountability indicators.
Curated Feeds
Our team maintains 47 curated feeds for popular topics: UPSC Current Affairs, IPL Cricket, Sarkari Yojana, Power Watch, Defence & Security, and more. Add any curated feed with one click and start receiving relevant news immediately.
Custom Filters
Build your own feed by combining filters: select news categories, add specific people or organizations to track, set political leaning preferences, and add accountability indicators. Filters use AND logic within groups for precise targeting.
Bias-Aware Feeds
Every article in your feed comes with bias detection — political lean scores, sentiment analysis, and source credibility ratings. You get focused topic coverage without sacrificing the balanced perspective that makes our platform unique.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are news feeds in The Balanced News?
Feeds are personalized news streams filtered by your interests. You can follow curated feeds created by our team (like 'Adani Empire' or 'Climate Action') or create your own custom feeds with specific filters for categories, topics, entities, political leaning, and accountability indicators.
How do I create a custom feed?
Go to 'Create Feed' from the menu. Name your feed, then add filters: select categories (Politics, Business, etc.), add specific topics or entities to track, set political leaning preferences (Left, Center, Right), and optionally add accountability indicators. Your feed will show only articles matching your criteria.
What are curated feeds?
Curated feeds are pre-made feeds created by The Balanced News team for popular topics and interests. Examples include 'Modi Government', 'Startup Ecosystem', 'Climate Action', 'Women's Rights', and many more. Just add them with one click to start receiving relevant news.
Can I follow multiple feeds?
Yes! You can add as many feeds as you like. Switch between them easily using the sidebar. Each feed maintains its own filters and shows articles matching its specific criteria.
How do feed filters work together?
Filters work using AND logic within groups and OR logic between options. For example, if you select 'Politics' category AND 'Narendra Modi' entity, you'll see political news about Modi. If you select multiple entities, you'll see news about any of them.
