QatarEnergy has temporarily halted liquefied natural gas (LNG) production at its Ras Laffan and Mesaieed facilities following Iranian drone strikes amid escalating Middle East tensions. No casualties were reported. The shutdown, affecting about 20% of global LNG supply, has caused significant spikes in European gas prices and disrupted energy markets worldwide. Similar precautionary shutdowns occurred at Saudi, Iraqi Kurdish, and Israeli energy sites. Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has also slowed, raising concerns over global energy security and supply stability.
