NSE Equity Cash Turnover Hits 16-Month High of Rs 23.9 Lakh Crore in January 2026

Equity cash turnover on the NSE reached a 16-month high of Rs 23.9 lakh crore in January 2026, despite fewer trading days. Mainboard equities contributed 67% of the increase and accounted for 89% of total turnover, which rose 19% month-on-month. Average daily turnover climbed 27% month-on-month to Rs 1.2 lakh crore. Exchange-traded funds and Sovereign Gold Bonds saw significant gains, while NSE Emerge equities, InvITs, and REITs declined. Trading was concentrated among the top 10 securities, with average trade size hitting a 56-month high.
