Vehicle registrations in Tamil Nadu increased by 8.4% in 2025, with nearly 21.18 lakh vehicles registered across the state. Two-wheelers constituted the largest segment, followed by light, medium, and heavy motor vehicles. Petrol vehicles remained dominant, but electric vehicle registrations saw a significant rise from 1.35 lakh in 2024 to 1.74 lakh in 2025, largely driven by two-wheelers. Registrations were concentrated in urban areas and specific districts like Chennai and Coimbatore.
