Karnataka Plans AI Data Centre Zones Including 500 MW Coastal Hub

Karnataka plans to develop artificial intelligence (AI) data centre zones across the state, including a dedicated 500 MW AI data hub in the coastal district of Dakshina Kannada. The state aims to establish hyperscale data centres above 500 MW and medium-capacity centres ranging from 20 MW to 200 MW in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Officials will study the feasibility of a cable landing station in Mangaluru. The government seeks to attract Rs 25,000-30,000 crore in investments from global ESDM companies and will enhance infrastructure for component assembly, testing, packaging, and warehousing.
