President Donald Trump has ordered the unravelling of a $2.9 million deal for computer chips and wafer fabrication operations between Emcore Corp. and HieFo Corp. Citing credible evidence that HieFo's current owner is a Chinese citizen, Trump's executive order demands divestment within 180 days due to national security concerns. The deal, involving technology for applications including artificial intelligence, was initially announced in May 2024 during the Biden administration. HieFo has not yet commented on the order.
