
India has surpassed its 10-year goal by training 85,000 engineers in semiconductor design within four years under the Government's Semiconductor Mission, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced. The initiative provides access to advanced Electronic Design Automation tools in 315 universities, enabling students nationwide to design and test semiconductor chips at the Semiconductor Laboratory in Mohali. With the global semiconductor industry expected to grow to USD 2 trillion, the program will expand to 500 universities to meet the rising demand for skilled professionals and support India's self-reliance in this sector.
