
The Indian government has launched two shipbuilding programs, the Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Scheme and the Shipbuilding Development Scheme, totaling Rs 44,700 crore, to boost domestic capacity and global competitiveness. The initiatives aim to provide financial assistance for ship construction and support the development and modernization of shipyards. The programs, valid until FY36, are expected to primarily benefit larger, more capable shipbuilders with existing order books and pipelines.
