Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to develop the state as an East-West Cargo Corridor by expediting cargo handling operations at the upcoming Mulapeta, Machilipatnam, and Ramayapatnam ports. He emphasized leveraging disruptions in West Asia trade routes to position Andhra Pradesh as a major logistics hub serving hinterlands of several states. Plans include developing port townships, industrial corridors, and fishing harbours, with Ramayapatnam set to become a container and bulk cargo hub by 2026, supported by a new rail line to the Kadapa steel plant.
