
The pesticide industry and government officials have urged tighter regulations for e-commerce platforms selling crop protection products to prevent fake and hazardous pesticides from reaching farmers. Industry body CropLife India and the Ministry of Agriculture emphasized that current compliance checks, such as GST verification, are insufficient. They called for mandatory authorization certificates, stronger quality assurance, supply chain traceability, and explicit provisions in the draft Pesticides Management Bill to ensure product authenticity and farmer safety as online sales grow.
