
Starting January 1, energy efficiency star-labelling will be mandatory for several appliances, including refrigerators, televisions, LPG stoves, cooling towers, chillers, deep freezers, distribution transformers, and grid-connected solar inverters. This move, announced via a Bureau of Energy Efficiency gazette notification, expands on previous voluntary labelling and upgrades existing mandatory norms for some items. The updated list follows a public feedback period initiated in July 2025.
