Three major alcoholic beverage associations have urged the Telangana government to clear over ₹3,900 crore in unpaid dues by the Telangana State Beverages Corporation Limited, with around ₹900 crore pending for more than a year. Despite excise revenues rising from ₹9,000 crore in 2014 to nearly ₹38,000 crore in 2023-24 and record liquor licence fees collected recently, payment delays are affecting supply chains, investor confidence, and industrial investments, which have more than halved in 2024-25. The associations emphasize honoring contractual commitments to maintain the state's credibility ahead of its participation in the World Economic Forum.
