Foreign tourist arrivals to India declined by 9.4% to 9.02 million in 2025, mainly due to a 73.37% drop in visitors from Bangladesh amid visa restrictions imposed after August 2024 citing security concerns. Despite this, arrivals from other countries grew by 4.25%. The US and UK were the top source markets. Outbound Indian tourism rose 5.9%, with the UAE as the leading destination. Leisure travel accounted for the largest share of outbound visits.
