Japanese utility Kansai Transmission and Distribution (KTD), part of the USD 27-billion Kansai Electric Power group, has acquired a 10% stake in Indian renewable energy firm OMC Power by investing Rs 160 crore. This marks KTD's first investment in India's energy sector and increases Japanese entities' combined share in OMC Power to about 67%. The funds will support OMC Power's development of a 1 GW renewable portfolio and smart grid technologies, enhancing digital monitoring and grid resilience.
