The Competition Commission of India (CCI) is preparing to address potential anti-competitive practices in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector, including algorithmic collusion, concentration in the AI value chain, targeted price discrimination, and self-preferencing. Following a 2025 market study, CCI issued a guidance note advising enterprises to conduct self-audits to prevent hidden anti-competitive outcomes. While recognizing AI's benefits for efficiency and market access, the regulator emphasizes balanced oversight to foster innovation and protect fair competition. CCI is also studying competition issues in the renewable energy sector under the BRICS framework.
