The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) identified multiple safety lapses in Air India's aircraft during surprise inspections at European airports, with the findings per inspection ratio reaching 1.96 in January. This prompted the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to intensify oversight and impose corrective measures, reducing the ratio to 1.76. Air India attributes many issues to its ageing fleet and ongoing delays in refurbishing older planes due to supply chain challenges. The airline plans to introduce retrofitted aircraft to improve safety compliance and reduce future findings.
