Asian Shoe Makers Expand India Operations After US Tariff Reduction

Following the US reduction of tariffs on Indian goods, several Asian shoe manufacturers plan to establish or expand non-leather footwear production facilities in India targeting exports to the US, the world's largest footwear market. Industry leaders, including Rafiq Ahmed of Kothari Industrial Corporation, noted that previous tariff hikes had disrupted shipments and delayed investments. The tariff rollback has renewed interest from companies across Taiwan, Vietnam, China, and Cambodia, prompting increased production and capacity expansion to meet US demand.
