India recorded over 5.5 lakh domestic trademark filings in the 2024-25 fiscal year, a record number, according to Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal. He attributed this surge to the strength of national institutions and the government's focus on fostering innovation, aligning with the 'Ideate, Innovate, Make in India' initiative. Goyal emphasized the Trade Marks Act, 1999, as crucial for protecting innovators and promoting economic growth, with pharmaceuticals, veterinary, and sanitary preparations seeing the highest registrations.
