The Indian government has partially lifted its three-year ban on wheat flour exports by permitting shipments of up to 5 lakh tonnes, as per a January 16 notification from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). Exporters must obtain prior authorization, with applications invited from January 21 to 31, 2026, and subsequently during the last ten days of each month until the quota is filled. Eligible applicants include flour mills, export processing units, special economic zones, and merchant exporters with valid licenses. Export authorizations will be valid for six months, and quantities will be determined by a special Exim facilitation committee.
