Haryana Projects 38% Decline in Sugarcane Production by 2025-26 Amid Yield and Area Drop

Haryana's sugarcane production is projected to decline by about 38% in 2025-26 compared to 2020-21, with estimated output falling to 536 lakh quintals due to reduced cultivation area and lower yields. The area under sugarcane rose until 2022-23 but has since decreased by over 83,000 acres. Factors cited include declining yields, rising cultivation costs, erratic rainfall, labor shortages, and limited harvesting machinery, leading to fewer working days for sugar mills.
