
The Reserve Bank of India's Financial Stability Report projects banks' gross non-performing assets (GNPA) ratio to improve to 1.9% by March 2027, down from 2.1% in September 2025. Stress tests indicate that while banks can withstand adverse shocks, six banks might fall below the regulatory capital minimum under severe scenarios. Public sector banks showed a higher capital depletion compared to private and foreign banks in these tests.
