Union Minister Amit Shah launched Bharat Taxi, India's first cooperative-led ride-hailing platform, initially operating in Delhi-NCR and Gujarat with plans to expand nationwide within two years. Registered under the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act, 2002, Bharat Taxi operates on a zero-commission, surge-free pricing model, allowing drivers, called Sarathis, to be co-owners who pay a fixed daily fee and receive direct profit shares. The platform emphasizes driver welfare with insurance and support services, aims to offer fares up to 30% lower than private competitors, and promotes women drivers through dedicated initiatives.
