
The finance ministry has allocated benches to 83 newly appointed members of the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT), a crucial step towards operationalizing the tax dispute resolution body. Members are directed to join their posts by January 21, with hearings expected to commence soon after. The Centre has also urged state governments to expedite courtroom and office space provisions. This move aims to resolve tax disputes efficiently, reducing the burden on high courts.
