Starting February 1, 2026, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will discontinue the mandatory Know Your Vehicle (KYV) process for new FASTag issuances for cars, jeeps, and vans. This change aims to enhance public convenience and reduce post-activation delays and harassment. For existing FASTag users, KYV will only be required in specific cases of complaints, such as misuse or incorrect issuance. NHAI has strengthened pre-activation validation norms, requiring banks to verify vehicle details against the VAHAN database before issuing a FASTag.
