
India's captive and commercial coal mines produced 20.49 million tonnes in February 2025, marking an 18.5% year-on-year increase, with dispatches reaching 17.72 million tonnes. For the financial year up to February, cumulative production rose 11.58% to 187.16 million tonnes, and dispatches increased 6.78%. The Ministry of Coal credited strategic policies, rigorous monitoring, and stakeholder support for these gains, emphasizing continued efforts to sustain production and meet energy demands.
