Shipbuilding Yard Planned at Kerala's Ponnani Port Under PPP Model

A large shipbuilding yard will be established at Kerala's Ponnani port under a public-private partnership model, covering 29 acres on the western side of the Ponnani Fishing Harbour. The project, expected to generate around 1,000 jobs, will be developed in two phases with investments of approximately Rs 200 crore and Rs 1,000 crore. A training institute and cargo-handling operations will also be set up. Alternative facilities will be provided for fish-drying units displaced by the project, which aims to boost regional development.
