The fire at an ONGC-owned gas well in Andhra Pradesh's Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district, ignited by a gas blowout on January 5, has been extinguished after a five-day operation. ONGC's Crisis Management Team successfully controlled the blowout and capped the well, described as a rare achievement. The massive fireball reached heights of 20 meters. Fortunately, no lives were lost or injuries reported. The well was operated by Deep Industries Ltd., with ONGC senior management taking direct control following the incident. The Chief Minister conducted an aerial survey and directed officials to expedite compensation for affected farmers.
