
Reckitt is leading a nationwide initiative in India to strengthen the sanitation economy by training sanitation workers as entrepreneurs and modernizing school sanitation systems. Despite over 100 million toilets built under the Swachh Bharat Mission, sanitation workers face high occupational risks and shorter life expectancy due to hazardous conditions and informal labor. The Harpic World Toilet College has trained over 125,000 workers, with nearly half women, promoting safer, dignified work. An independent assessment found each rupee invested yields Rs. 23.20 in social value through improved health, dignity, and financial resilience.
