Andhra Pradesh is advancing plans to mine rare earth and titanium-based beach sand minerals along its 1,053 km coastline, aiming to reduce India's reliance on China-dominated supply chains. The state holds nearly 25% of India's beach sand mineral reserves, rich in ilmenite, rutile, zircon, and monazite, key for industries like electronics, clean energy, and defense. The initiative includes developing downstream processing hubs and collaborating with Indian Rare Earth Limited to build domestic capacity amid growing demand for rare earth magnets and titanium products.
