MMRDA's Rs 1,016 Crore BKC Pod Taxi Project to Operate Without Subsidy

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is launching a Rs 1,016 crore pod taxi project in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to improve last-mile connectivity between Bandra and Kurla railway stations and BKC. The 8-km network will feature 33 stations with autonomous pods carrying six passengers at speeds up to 40 kmph. The project will operate without government subsidies; the private concessionaire, Sai Green Mobility, will pay an annual Rs 1 crore fee and share 21% of revenue. Land acquisition is underway, and operations are planned under a 30-year concession.
