India's Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) has expressed skepticism regarding the potential of new regional airlines to break the aviation duopoly, citing a history of failures in the sector. FIP President CS Randhawa stated that proposed carriers like Shank Air, Al Hind Air, and Fly Express lack the necessary funding and expertise to challenge existing airlines. He highlighted structural barriers such as chronic underfunding, certification delays, pilot shortages, and high operational costs as reasons why regional airlines have historically struggled to survive in India.
