
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that India's 'Make in India' initiative and production-linked incentives have significantly boosted electronics manufacturing, creating 25 lakh jobs over the past decade. He highlighted the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) as crucial for developing a component ecosystem, attracting Rs 1.15 lakh crore in investment commitments expected to generate Rs 10.34 lakh crore in production and create 1.42 lakh jobs. Additionally, 10 semiconductor units have been approved, with some already in early production stages, aiming to reduce import dependence.
