
Nagaland has identified 24 traditional handloom and craft products for geographical indication (GI) registration, as announced at a stakeholder meeting organized by the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation Limited (NEHHDC) and the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region. Products from various tribes, including Pochury, Zeliang, Sumi, Ao, and Tikhir, were highlighted, with respective tribal organizations applying for GI tags. Other tribes are also working to identify products for future registration. GI tagging aims to promote cultural heritage and provide commercial benefits.
