The Punjab government has extended its one-time settlement (OTS) scheme for outstanding tax dues until March 31, a move aimed at providing relief to traders and industry. Launched on October 1, the scheme was initially set to conclude on December 31. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated the extension addresses compliance pressures and practical difficulties faced by taxpayers, including overlapping deadlines and delayed assessment orders. The OTS offers significant waivers on interest and penalties for pre-GST disputes, with 6,348 applications already received.
