Concurrently, CSIR-NCL scientists in Pune have developed Dimethyl Ether (DME), a clean-burning synthetic fuel that can blend with LPG, potentially reducing import dependence. Meanwhile, India is advancing ethanol blending in petrol, mandating 20% ethanol by 2026 to boost energy security, farmer incomes, and reduce foreign exchange outgo, with the industry prepared for further expansion.
