India Approves Rs 1.25 Trillion Outlay for Semiconductor Mission 2.0 Expansion
The Indian government’s Finance Ministry has approved a Rs 1.25 trillion outlay for India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0, significantly increasing support from the Rs 76,000 crore allocated under ISM 1.0. This phase aims to enhance semiconductor manufacturing, design, and skill development, supporting fabs, assembly, testing, and chip design units. The expanded scheme targets strengthening the domestic supply chain, attracting private investment, and reducing import dependence to meet up to 75% of India’s semiconductor demand by 2030.
