Common tasks
Frequently asked questions
How do I contact The Balanced News for support?
Email admin@thebalanced.news for any question, issue, correction request, partnership enquiry, or feedback. This is our single working contact address — we usually respond within 24-48 hours on business days. Other addresses (corrections@, hello@, feedback@) do not exist and will bounce.
How do I report an error or incorrect bias analysis?
Email admin@thebalanced.news with the article URL and the specific issue (factual error, mistaken bias score, wrong source category, broken link). Corrections are logged in our public correction log. See /corrections-policy for the full process and response timelines.
How do I delete my account or request my data?
Email admin@thebalanced.news with the subject line "Data deletion request" or "Data access request" and the email associated with your account. We respond within 30 days as required by Indian data protection norms. Your account, saved feeds, and any personal data will be permanently removed within 7 business days of confirmation.
The app or website isn't loading. What should I do?
First, try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows/Linux, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac) to clear cached files. If the issue persists, try a private/incognito window to rule out browser extensions. If still broken, email admin@thebalanced.news with your device, browser version, and a screenshot of the issue. Status page: see Twitter @thebalancednews for incident updates.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
Visit /login and click "Forgot password?" — enter the email associated with your account and we'll send a reset link. The link is valid for 1 hour. If you don't receive it within 5 minutes, check your spam folder. If the email still doesn't arrive, contact admin@thebalanced.news.
How do I change my email address or display name?
Sign in and visit /profile. From there you can update your display name, email, language preference, and notification settings. Email changes require re-verification — you'll get a confirmation link at the new address before the change takes effect.
Can I use The Balanced News content for research or journalism?
Yes — TBN's bias analysis, sentiment scores, and Lens Score data are released under CC BY-NC 4.0 (Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial). Cite us as "Bias and Lens Score analysis by The Balanced News (thebalanced.news)." For commercial licensing, partnerships, or academic research access to historical data, email admin@thebalanced.news.
How is my privacy protected on The Balanced News?
We collect minimal data: account info you provide (email, optional name), language preference, and aggregated usage analytics (page views, feature interactions — anonymised). We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with third parties beyond what's needed to run the service (e.g. Google Analytics for aggregated traffic patterns). Full details at /privacy-policy.
How does the AI bias detection actually work?
Our system analyses article text across word choice, framing, entity coverage, and sentiment. Each story is scored on three axes — Left, Center, Right (percentages summing to 100) — and a sentiment score (0-100 from negative to positive). Multiple sources covering the same story are grouped, and the cross-source variance is measured. Full methodology at /how-bias-detection-works.
Is The Balanced News a registered media organisation?
TBN is operated by an independent editorial team. We adhere to the Press Council of India's Norms of Journalistic Conduct for our editorial decisions and to schema.org's AnalysisNewsArticle standard for our automated bias output. We are not affiliated with any political party, religious organisation, or commercial media group. Editorial independence and funding sources are documented at /editorial-standards.
Still stuck? Email admin@thebalanced.news with as much detail as you can. We'll get back to you within 48 hours on business days, often much sooner.
