Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has started supplying semi-high-speed underslung traction transformers for the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train project from its Jhansi plant. These transformers are being sent to Kolkata for final assembly. The project, led by a BHEL consortium with TRSL, marks a key step in BHEL's entry into the semi-high-speed propulsion segment. Additionally, BHEL's Bhopal unit developed traction motors, and the Jhansi plant recently secured an order for Rail Borne Maintenance Vehicles (RBMV) to support railway track maintenance, aligning with 'Make in India' and 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiatives.
