Potato farmers, particularly those growing white-skin varieties, are facing significant losses due to a crash in market prices, receiving Rs 180-480 per quintal, well below production costs. The BKU (Charuni) union has urged the Haryana government to intervene, demanding an increase in the secured price under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana to Rs 800 per quintal and separate price averages for red and white potatoes. The union warns of an agitation if timely action is not taken.
