Tata Motors CEO Shailesh Chandra emphasized the need for government support to make electric vehicles (EVs) priced under Rs 10 lakh more accessible, citing structural cost challenges and recent GST changes that have increased prices. He highlighted the importance of this segment for mass EV adoption, noting that battery costs constitute a large portion of vehicle prices. Chandra also called for reinstating fleet vehicle incentives, which, despite low sales volume, contribute significantly to passenger kilometers driven. Tata Motors reported strong sales growth in 2025 and plans new model launches in 2026.
