A large industrial unit in Mandi Gobindgarh, Shiva Casting Private Limited, faces a retrospective electricity bill of ₹5.44 crore due to a billing error by Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL). For nearly 11 months, the unit was billed using incorrect multiplying factors for its meters, leading to underbilling. The discrepancy was discovered during an inspection, prompting PSPCL to issue the demand. The industrial unit is contesting the bill, citing PSPCL's failure to conduct mandatory periodic inspections as the cause of the error.
